Pre-shave box – Post-shave box – Extra-care box
This month’s kit is the “Pre-shave box” which always features a pre-shave item to layer underneath your shaving lather for an extra close and comfortable shave (particularly useful if you have sensitive skin). We usually also include a bonus item in this kit, something that doesn’t get featured in the subscription as often and will last you a long time. For the full description of everything in this month’s kit, check them out below:
Mondial is an artisanal shaving brand from Florence, Italy. We’ve worked with them in the past and we were blown away by the high quality lather and unique scents of their products. Originally founded in 1908, their formulations still adhere to the original recipes, focusing on natural ingredients without preservatives and with strong, unique fragrances. The Mandarin scent from this shaving cream is expertly harmonised with spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper for an uplifting overall fragrance that persists throughout the whole shave. Despite being labelled a cream, we would refer to this as a “croap” as it’s quite hard, with a consistency somewhere between a soap and a shaving cream. Produces a wonderful lather, bursting with fragrance, that does a fantastic job of protecting and conditioning the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and comfortable.
To Use: Take an almond sized clump of cream and place it in your hand, bowl or mug. Make sure to press it out as far as possible as this increases the surface area for a much quicker lather. Using a slightly damp shaving brush, start lathering up as normal.
Ingredients: Stearic Acid, Aqua, Cocos Nucifera Oil, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Carbonate, Parfum, Cinnamal, Citral, Eugenol, Hexyl Cinnamal, Isoeugenol, Limonene, Linalool.
Baume is an innovative brand from Belgium that came about through one man’s quest to find the perfect shaving products for his sensitive skin. He knew he needed to use a single blade razor to minimise irritation but found the products he was using were causing problems. So in the summer of 2011 he created his very own aftershave balm using natural ingredients to help calm and soothe the skin. Fast forward to 2019 and Baume has a full range of high quality shaving products with a subtle scent and employing a unique combination of natural ingredients that make them perfect for all skin types. The Baume pre-shave gel is perfect for those new to this style of shaving, or those in a rush, as it’s designed to be placed underneath your shaving lather where it provides an extra layer of hydration and protection against irritation. Made with glycerin to give your razor that little extra bit of slip to glide through your hairs as well as thoroughly hydrate your skin. Added vitamin E and carrot oil further help to nourish your skin.
To use: Take a small dollop of gel and rub it into the area that’s to be shaved, making sure skin is wet. Wait 30 seconds to absorb and then apply your shaving lather directly on top.

The best kept secret in shaving! Alum is a natural stone that has been in use for thousands of years for its healing properties. Usually used as an astringent to stop bleeding by constricting the blood vessels but it also tightens pores and acts as an antiseptic that kills any surface bacteria, which helps prevent spots. But the true genius of the alum block is in technique monitoring. Poor technique or blunt blades are often the cause of microscopic cuts and nicks but most of these are invisible to the eye. You may think you’ve had a good shave but there is always room to improve. When you rub the alum block over any hidden spots of irritation it will immediately sting. You can use this stinging to identify areas of your face where you are perhaps not being careful enough or it could be a signal that your blade needs changing. When you can consistently run an alum block over your freshly shaved skin without a hint of stinging, you know you have mastered wet shaving! We’ve purposely made this alum block with a rounded off edge on one side so it’s much more comfortable when running along your skin.
To use: Immediately after you have finished shaving, rinse off any remaining bits of hair or lather, then take your alum block and proceed to rub all over your still damp, freshly shaved skin. Once done, wash it off with cold water before applying your shaving balm. Store the stone in an open, dry space to prevent it from dissolving.
Ingredients: Aluminium Potassium Sulfate
Made in Russia, Perma-Sharps have a strong reputation for being a relatively sharp blade whilst being forgiving and having excellent longevity. Lasts 4-8 shaves per blade.
Bluebird are a relatively new brand of razor blades, made in Egypt by the same company that make Derby Extras but most believe these give a far superior shave. Coated in a chromium-ceramic platinum tungsten polymer to increase razor glide as well as improve edge retention for more shaves per blade. Each blade will likely last 4-7 shaves before replacing.
